From the Desk of Mrs. Wolfe
Dear Our Lady Star of the Sea School Families,
Our chapel is complete! We are inviting the parish to come to the school after all Masses the weekend of Sept. 8 and 9 so they can view the chapel as well as walk through the rest of the school. Then on Friday, Sept. 14, Fr. Lappe will bring the Blessed Sacrament over to the chapel after our school Mass. Students will be part of the procession, and I hope you can join us for this very special event!
This week we started serving hot lunches to students, and quickly discovered that our initial plan for students to eat in their rooms was not going to work as well as we had hoped. So on Thursday, we opened up the larger portion of the lunchroom for our student lunches, which proved to work well. So until we let you know otherwise, students will be eating in the lunchroom on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for sure, and on Mondays and Wednesdays when PE can be held outdoors. No matter where the children eat, please know that they are well supervised and given the appropriate amount of time to eat their meal, provided they use their time to eat and not just to chat.
CALLING ALL SAFETY PATROL MEMBERS! If your child is in grades 4-8, they have an opportunity to make a big difference before and after school by serving on our Safety Patrol. We had an excellent team last year, and I’m hoping to grow the team this year again! Many thanks to those who have helped already this year! Applications are available in the main office for new students that want to join the group.
Our 8th graders will be on retreat from Sept. 30-Oct. 3 at the Diocese of Baker Retreat Center in eastern Oregon. They will be accompanied by Fr. Lappe, Sister Maria Caeli, the missionaries, and several other chaperones. Please keep the retreat team and our students in your prayers as they get ready for this special event.
