From the Desk of Mrs. Wolfe
Dear Our Lady Star of the Sea School Families,
Thank you to all who were able to attend our Curriculum Night and Parent Meeting last night! It was great to see so many of you and to have a chance to gather and hear from our Parents Club, our SCOPE Auction Chairmen, and our Scrip Chairman, and hopefully to meet other parents. We are off to a great start this year, thanks to all who are jumping in to be involved in the many activities that happen here at Star!
Our students in grades 2-8 are continuing to take the Measure of Academic Progress IMAP) tests, which will wrap up by next Friday, Oct. 5. From what I have observed, students are doing their best and taking the testing seriously. Please continue to encourage your child to do their best!
Next week we will begin recognizing students for a program we call, "Witness of the Week." When a student is noticed doing something virtuous, they can be nominated for this award. Submissions can be made by staff members, community members, and/or students and dropped off in the school office by Thursday afternoon of each week. Then, on Friday morning, a team of teachers will decide who wins the title Witness of the Week! We have a display case in the main floor hallway just waiting to place pictures of the children who are chosen each week.
Please remember to keep the retreat team and our 8th grade students in your prayers from Sun. Sept 30-Oct. 3 where they will be on retreat at the Diocese of Baker Retreat Center in eastern Oregon. They will be accompanied by Fr. Lappe, Sister Maria Caeli, the missionaries, and several other chaperones, so prayers for safe travels and for spiritual growth for all involved will be appreciated!
