From the Desk of Mrs. Wolfe
Dear Our Lady Star of the Sea School Families,
This week we ended our month-long focus on the virtue of "Obedience," and were treated to several skits done by students in grades 3, 5 and 8 during our morning assemblies. In addition to the skits, I requested that all of the students demonstrate that trait by following through with my assignment to portray the virtue using posters, skits, poems, essays, and we even had a rap done by one of our 7th graders.
Our virtue focus for the month of May is "Diligence," and we defined that as, "Doing your best and working hard until you're finished." A fitting virtue for the last full month of school, don't you agree? I challenged the children to do a daily self-assessment, asking themselves what kind of grade they would give themselves for being diligent. Can you help me by reminding your student?
At our morning assembly on Tuesday, April 30, we recognized Elliott M. for being "Witness of the Week" the week before Easter Break. He demonstrated the virtues of "Empathy and Service," by noticing a student who was bringing a car seat into the office before school and offering to help rather than go to the park to play, Way to go, Elliott!
Tom and Meg Collier came to our Thursday morning assembly to announce the winners of the Knights of Columbus "Unborn Lives are Children of God," poster and essay contest. I'm proud to say that all of the winners of this parish contest are students at Our Lady Star of the Sea School! Please see the attachment in this week's Friday Folder for the names of these talented artists and writers!
