“We must trust in the mighty power of God’s mercy. We are all sinners, but His grace transforms us and makes us new.” -Pope Benedict XVI
March 6, 2020 Dear Star Parents and Families, This week it seems that all we hear on the news centers around the Coronavirus. We have not had any suspected infections here at the school; however, that does not mean we are waiting to react. Presently, our janitorial staff and school staff are taking measures to ensure the school’s physical environment stays as clean as possible. We are asking each of you to help us with this by reminding your students to wash their hands whenever possible, or to use hand sanitizer. We also would like to remind you that if a student does get sick and has a fever, they must stay home for 24 hours AFTER the fever has broken. You will also hear from Fr. Lappe at Mass over the weekend about other precautions the Archbishop has directed be made. Know that we are working very hard to keep our students and staff as safe as we possibly can, and we appreciate your help. Recently I have been made aware that there may be some confusion surrounding the school’s Annual Fund. The Annual Fund was originally established for parishioners who had been school families in the past, or parishioners who see the value & benefit of a Catholic education, to have a method to support the school and the school’s future. This year, current school families and staff are also being asked to participate in the Annual Fund. The amount you decide to give is up to you. Your family could quite literally give $5 and have fulfilled this request. Our goal is 100% participation from our school families and staff. If you have any further questions about the Annual Fund, please feel free to contact me at the school. I will do my best to answer your questions, or I will bring your questions to someone who can answer them. Yesterday I was very fortunate to be able to go with the kindergarten – 2nd grade students on their field trip to the Admiral Theatre. Our students were very well behaved and seemed to really enjoy the production. A big “thank you” goes out to Tom and Nancy Danaher for sponsoring the program which enables us and the other elementary schools in the Bremerton area to attend performances at the Admiral Theatre. Please remember we have changed the school’s calendar for Friday, March 20th, from a half day to a regular day of school. Cheese Pizza will be the hot lunch available for students. If there are any questions about this change, please call us here at the school. Important Reminders
