Academic Testing and Interviews for Prospective Students Entering 1st-8th Grades
Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School exists to support the parents in their role as the primary educator of their children in the Catholic faith and to educate those parish children whose families are committed to the Catholic faith and a Catholic education. All parents and guardians must also be aware of their obligation to model Christ and the Church’s teachings, which includes our obligation to participate in Mass weekly. Non-Catholic students will be eligible for admission if space is available. Non-Catholic students are placed on a waiting list in the order their completed applications are received in the school office. As openings occur for each grade level, students will be admitted and/or placed on a waiting list.
Students will be admitted to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School according to, and in the order of the following qualifications:
Current students (Catholic and Non-Catholic) whose families comply with all yearly registration requirements.
Siblings of students already enrolled in the school.
Parents and/or grandparents of the child who are active OLSOS parishioners as shown through Mass attendance, giving of time, talent and treasure.
Students from families who are members of Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish, Holy Trinity Parish, or other parishes that provide an agreed subsidy to the school.
Families new to the area who have registered in one of the subsidizing parishes.
Active members of non-subsidizing Catholic parishes.
Parent(s) of the child who are active in another denomination or are non-active Catholics who desire a Christ-centered learning environment for the student. Children admitted to Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School who are not members of the Catholic faith are expected to participate in all aspects of the school’s faith life and instruction, such as Mass attendance and religion classes.
All students are accepted on a probationary basis. Academic testing may be required of some students. Each student's enrollment is dependent upon their ability to maintain the academic and behavioral standards of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic School.
The mission of Our Lady Star of the Sea School is to provide an academically excellent, Christ-centered education that reinforces Catholic values and traditions, fosters respect for self and others, and encourages the continual spiritual, intellectual, creative, physical, social, and emotional growth of all.
