Specialist Classes
K-3 Music – Each class meets twice a week for half an hour. Students will learn basic music skills (such as rhythm, movement, and listening) and basic singing skills (such as matching pitch and correct tone production). All materials are provided in class, so there is no need for students to bring anything besides themselves. Twice a year in January and in May, the K-3 classes will showcase their musical talents at the All-School Concert.
Fourth Grade Music – Each class meets twice a week for half an hour to learn to play the recorder. Recorders are an easy way for beginning musicians to learn the essential elements of music, such as pitch and rhythm. Similar to a martial arts school, students can pass tests to earn different colored “belts,” or little cords that hang on the ends of their recorders. Each student should purchase a soprano/descant recorder and bring it to class. Twice a year in January and in May, the recorder class will showcase their musical talents at the All-School Concert. |
