Chess Club

Stop playing with chess & play winning chess
Spring Chess Tournament Registration
Middle School Spring Chess Tournament
Saturday, May 10  9 AM - 5 PM


Register
  • Awards Ceremony at 4:30 PM
  • Tournament and ceremony will be in the School Library
  • Lunch Break from Noon to 12:50 PM
    (students bring their own lunch)

  • Once students are eliminated from the tournament bracket, they are welcome to continue playing chess for fun or complete chess puzzles in the cafeteria.
  • Parents are welcome to stay during matches but all guests must remain silent at all times or a player may be disqualified from the tournament.

Fourth Mondays after school (3:10 - 4:10 PM)

(Starting January 23, 2025)

We meet after school on first Mondays in the sixth-grade homeroom for open play. Fifth through eighth graders of all skill levels welcome! Parent pick-up is at 4:15pm at the front entrance of the school.

Spring Varsity Chess Team


Try-outs February 10th after school (3:15 - 4:00 PM)

The Varsity Chess Club will meet Thursdays from 3:15 - 4:00 PM from February 20 - April 10.

Pick-up at front entrance at 4:15 PM.


Did you know St. Teresa of Avila is the patron saint of chess?

Middle School students can try-out for our varsity team, the Knights of Ávila, that will meet weekly in the spring during our school Club Season. Varsity Chess Club will meet weekly to learn more advanced strategy and rated play with teammates. The season will end with a tournament competition.
