Miss Rebecca Jordan
Miss Jordan is from Snoqualmie, Washington, where she grew up on the family farm. She is a graduate of Western Washington University. She has been teaching at Our Lady Star of the Sea school since 2005. She has taught second grade for five years. She has a passion for teaching children the Catholic faith, and inspiring them to be saints. She is very active in the Our Lady Star of the Sea parish. She directs the Vacation Bible School and Children’s Adoration. When she is not teaching Miss Jordan’s enjoys spending time with her family, movies, cooking, traveling, reading on a beach :), running, acting on stage,and being Catholic.

We have a brand new textbook for this year, Life in Christ. This book is setup is an excellent book that thoroughly prepares students for the reception the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.

Physical Education
Students receive 30 minutes of P.E. twice a week in which the focus is on gross and fine motor skills, learning new games, participation and respect for others.
Music
Students receive 30 minutes of music twice a week. They continue to focus on singing, adding in movement and
background about the songs. They will start learning how written music works. Instruments are used to focus on
understanding basic concepts of music. They are expected to perform at least once per year.
Library
The second graders have library time for one half-hour every Tuesday. During this time books are read to them and they are allowed to check out books. The books they check out can go home. The students are expected to return the books they checked out one week after they have been checked out.
Art
The elements and principles of art are integrated into the classroom curriculum through each of our different subjects as well as through our art docent program. Your child will create art projects related to the 2nd grade curriculum.
